About BIOME

As a university center of excellence for research and development of advanced bio-materials based on local Indonesian materials supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Covid-19 pandemic facing the world globally and affected problems in the environment, especially the SDGs on the third goal (Good Health and Well-Being), therefore BioME’s researchers contributed to solving the pandemic through the Covid-19 Consortium Research. Research innovations developed by BIOME include the Development of RNA Biosensor-Based Portable Detection Kit for Covid-19, Design and Synthesis of RNA-Polymerase Inhibitors for the Covid Virus -19, Analysis of SARSCOV-2 Spike Protein Variant from Indonesia and Effect on Receptor Binding Domain Affinity, and Development of a Recombinant Adenovirus-Based SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine as a Prototype of the Indonesian Covid Vaccine. The research was included in the National Covid-19 Consortium. Participation and contribution of BIOME on Covid-19 research, especially vaccine development research received an inscription as a member of the national team for the acceleration of “Vaksin Merah Putih” by the Minister of Research and Technology on December 4th , 2020. BioME conducts research to develop products based on microorganisms, exploration and chemical synthesis of bioactive compounds. BioME was supported by 4 Research Group and researchers who are experts in their fields.
